my indigenous midwives became angry

Few years ago, indigenous midwives seem so needed. Perhaps because there was not enough doctor or health functionary to help women in labour. course, certified, kit were given. periodically they were same refreshement about the course. Indigenous midwives - as usually called 'dukun beranak'- were partner of Indonesian women in labour.and partner for health department, too right? But it was years ago. Now we have many midwives we call as 'bidan'. But how about dukun beranak now? How about certificate and how about the kit?
In my region Grobogan, there is a statement that labour should take minimally by bidan. For the safe of mother in labour I DO agree with this statement. If we could, better if all labour should take by an obstetrician specialist doctor. I am agree and will more thankful if our maternal mortality rate get to zero.
I only see the fact. About indigenous midwives we have. Thing about their family, think about their relationship with bidan in village.I found a midwife was angry and said will never stop untill she died she would help women in labour. She had a bad relationship with bidan in her village.
All I know is every one need to be respected.include dukun beranak. To stop her helping women in labour need an art of communication.
I think we can still using dukun beranak in health promotion or make any deal wiyh them to help bidan in job by bathing baby or woman after labour, baby massage and other work that she can take as far as only to assist bidan and helping bidan to prepare bidan kit. Agree with me?

Kina (kuinin) is an importan alkaloid extracted from sinkonina tree. Hundeds years ago used by South Amerika's . Scientifically used spread abroad since kina and sinkonin was isolated. Now kina have been sintesis, but the way to make the sintesis is so so expensive so te nature sill protec.
Sionkonina content more than twenty alkaloid, but that usefull in clinic are only two pairs of isomer. kina and kuinidin, sinkonina and sinkonidin. Kina and sinkonidin are in levo-isomer , while two other alkaloid s are dekstro-isomer.

The history of kina finding told us that our nature are so rich, usefull and surely important. Thousand herbal still use by poeople as 'medical material' in traditional medicine. Some people agree that herbals they use are works, some deny it. But, why not we explore more and more to know what exactly true? Then take result for the goodness for all. herbal still do

Petai Cina (Leucaena glauca) is one of many herbal material used in traditional medicine. I found it many times used by people who stay in village around me. When some one got wound, bloody, cut on venous,…they will take same point of young Petai Cina leaves, gnaw it then take it onto wound. Blood will stop in seconds.
Leucaena glauca content 3-5% of mimosin that highly dissolved in water and assumed that matter exist in water; and tannin (tanat acid) that work as astrigent usefull to influence local hemostatic Perhaps this is the reason why Leucaenia glauca’s extract can stop enormous blood flow from wound.

living with traditional medicine in modern age

Traditional medicine grow and living together with human being. It is so difficult to separate between traditional medicine and society, especially who live in a small village. There are so many-many traditional medicine you can find.

I live in a small village in Indonesia. In one area I can find traditional treatment such as : dukun beranak, pijat, sembur/suwuk, sangkal putung, gurah hidung, cantuk. In their job, they use traditional medicine. Herbal, is the most they choose to use.

Dukun beranak is a traditional tratment to help a woman in labor. They act as a midwife, but never get a formal education. Pijat is a traditional tratment by message part of your body to heal pain. Sembur is traditional traetment by using some herbal requirement and bite by dukun , mix with some water then splitted and spray to face or other part of body to heal pain. Sangkal putung is a traditional treatment to help people who got problem as fracture, dislocatio,or just sprain by exercise. Gurah hidung is traditional tratment by using herbal essence then flow into nose so it enter to nasal cavity, 'sick man' accep this tretment by lying on bed. Cantuk is a traditional tratment by stratch at skin then suck it with cow horn to take some blood from it. This treatment usually placed at scalp or back. All these traditional tratment I wrote is only little part of traditional medicine in Indonesia. Sometimes it seems so impossible to understand why people choose and use these treatment. But the fact is that these traditonal treatment still living.

Traditional medicine is most used in these traditional tratment. From them I can find that some leaves are usefull as if to stop blood, to stop inflammation, detoxification and others.

Poeple may not believe how this could happen. They won't understand how these can heal pain. It could never be explain because people who do this traditional treatment got their knowledge beside from their parrent or grandpa, they got it by vision.

So, in this modern age you still can get traditional treatment without pay much money ( they paid by coffe, tea, sugar or as much as you sincere to give your money). As a general doctor, I find all this and never stop to think how this can happen but the fact tell me that's all is 'right'.
